Services for Adolescents & Children
Supporting Young Minds Through Every Stage
Each stage of growth brings unique challenges. The student striving for excellence, the child struggling to regulate emotions, the teen navigating identity or pressure from peers, all deserve care that supports both development and potential.
Early, structured intervention can make all the difference. At Thriving Minds, Led by Brittany Smith, MD—double board-certified in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and Adult Psychiatry, we help families and young people understand the challenges they’re facing, build stability, and create strategies that foster confidence and lasting growth.

Therapy for Adolescents & Children
Lasting progress requires skills, strategies, and support that extend beyond the session. Dr. Smith integrates advanced training with an individualized approach, selecting methods that best fit each client’s needs, goals, and stage of life.
Our goal is to help children and teens recognize their emotions, strengthen coping skills, and improve communication at home and school.
Approaches Include:
A structured, skills-based method for managing anxiety, depression, or perfectionism. CBT helps clients recognize unhelpful thought and behavior patterns and replace them with healthier strategies.
The gold standard treatment for obsessive-compulsive disorder and related anxiety conditions. ERP involves carefully guided exposure to triggers while building healthier responses, reducing avoidance, and restoring confidence in daily life.
A collaborative approach that strengthens communication, resolves conflict, and builds healthier dynamics within families. Sessions focus on creating shared understanding and practical strategies, supporting both the individual in treatment and the family system as a whole.
Motivational interviewing helps adolescents explore ambivalence and commit to healthier behaviors, while contingency management reinforces progress through structured, evidence-based reward systems, an effective combination for treating early-stage substance use concerns.
A structured, practical intervention that helps children and teens develop systems for time management, task completion, and prioritization. This approach enhances executive functioning and self-efficacy, promoting both academic success and reduced family stress.
Responsible, Evidence-Based Medication Management
At Thriving Minds, medication is used thoughtfully, responsibly, and always as part of a broader treatment plan. Every prescription is carefully considered, closely monitored, and reviewed in the context of your child’s goals, development, and overall well-being.
Our Approach Includes:
Clear discussions with families about benefits, side effects, and alternatives
Individualized dosing and consistent follow-up monitoring
Responsible prescribing practices (no benzodiazepines, barbiturates, or opioids)
Coordination with therapists, pediatricians, and specialists when needed
Regular check-ins to track progress, school performance, and emotional well-being
